The Central Maine Brittany Club held its designated specialty show on Saturday, June 26th, 2010 in conjunction with the Penobscot Valley Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show. The show was held at the Cumberland Fairgrounds, in Cumberland Maine with a total Brittany entry of 29.
Ms. Kristyn McCartney judged 4 entries in Sweepstakes and 2 entries in Veteran Sweepstakes. In the sweeps competition she awarded Best in Sweepstakes to PARADISE’S ICHIGO HALF MASK owned by Jorge Medina & Darlene J. Hughes. Best of Opposite Sex and Best in Veteran Sweepstakes was awarded to CH HILL'S MORNING EDITION owned by Paul and Dawn Hill. A special sweepstakes treat was the return of 12 year old CH WILLOGOLD'S RH MAGENTA MX MXJ OF AXP AJP “Jenny”, to the ring for the first time in many years, handled by longtime club member Kim Tees. Jenny is still active in Agility competition.
Mrs. Sheila DiNardo judged the regular classes. Following the judging a casual lunch was offered which allowed the opportunity for refreshments and socializing. On behalf of CMBC, Ms. McCartney was presented with a gift of appreciation in recognition of her first judging assignment. Appreciation was also extended to all those who worked so hard to make this show enjoyable for everyone. The entire CMBC Board of Directors and Officers were in attendance including long time member Dwight “Pete” Jordan who continues to be active in the club. There is so much work that goes on behind the scenes to make any event successful. A sincere expression of gratitude is extended to all involved; from those who contributed to offer a prize to those who physically labored and traveled back and forth each day to help in whatever way necessary. Additionally, thank you to those who traveled from Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York!
A special ‘shout out’ for President John Short for overseeing all necessary labor intensive aspects of the show and for his congenial and hospitable ways of making everyone feel welcome, to Sam Jackson in his commitment to his new role as VP of Membership and working alongside of John, to VP Gary Anderson for so efficiently handling the trophy distribution with ‘help‘ from granddaughter Rachel, to our Secretary/Treasurer Donna Pride, our ‘go to person’ whose friendship, assistance and guidance is always appreciated, to Director Dwight Pete Jordan for his experience and knowledge, to Director RO Hagar who always pitches in and helps the club in many areas, to Directors Pam Jackson and Julie Harris for always cheerfully offering support and encouragement while helping in so many ways. As an added note, while Pam, Julie, and Ann were preparing dogs for the ring, - the rest of the leadership team pitched in to make sure everything ran smoothly.

Again, congratulations to each winner for their Brittany’s placement. There were many outstanding ambassadors of the Brittany breed in the Maine ring this weekend and Central Maine Brittany Club is proud to have hosted this specialty show. (I hope I have mentioned everyone here but do apologize in advance if that is not the case.) Thank you to everyone and we look forward to seeing you again in 2011 with a whole new venue!
