Central Maine Brittany Club 2011 Specialty
The Central Maine Brittany club held it’s annual specialty show on June 25, 2011 in conjunction with the Penobscot Valley Kennel Club as part of a new 4 day cluster held in Cumberland, Maine and drew 36 entries from both the show and field venues for sweepstakes and conformation judgments. The following day CMBC supported PVKC with 27 Brittany entries. CMBC continues to see an increase in entries each year despite a negative economy. Thank you to all the exhibitors and their beautiful Brittanys who attended and contributed to the success of this year‘s show.
Despite the formidable rainy Maine weather spirits were not dampened as Judge Steve Dostie enthusiastically set things in motion for the sweepstakes. Best in Sweeps was awarded to TRIUMPHANTS CENTERFOLD from the 12 - 18 month junior bitch class who continued on to win a 4 point major from the Bred by Exhibitor Class. Best of Opposite to Best in Sweeps was awarded to TRIUMPHANTS AS GOOD AS IT GETS from the 6 - 9 month puppy dogs class, a youngster went on to achieve Winners Dog and Best of Winners for a 4 point major. Best in Veteran Sweeps was won by NAGDC DC AFC TRIUMPHANT'S TO HOT TO HANDLE JH and Best Opposite Sex to Best in Veteran Sweepstakes CH TOP SHELF'S SIMPLE PLEASURES MX MXJ CDX SH RN XF.

ollowing the sweepstakes Mr. Carl Liepmann continued with judgement of the regular and non-regular classes. Some highlights include award for Best of Breed that went to GCH MILLETTE'S SWEET MEMORIES who continued on to win Sporting Group One with many Brittany enthusiasts standing ringside cheering their breed on. GCH TRIUMPHANTS SAVIOR MACHINE was Best Opposite Sex. Judge Liepman chose DC AFC FLASHFIRLES BANG A GONG as 1st Place Field Trial Dog. Best Veteran in Breed went to GCH RAINBOW'S CASTING SHADOWS JH who also won Best Veteran in Group. Congratulations to each winner for a job well done and thank you to each of our judges.
CMBC kept it’s large club tent up for two days in order to provide ringside grooming with free electricity. A smaller hospitality tent contained a generous ringside buffet, several vendor items, a raffle table, and a small area for socializing. Both tents also provided shelter from the rainy weather. The show committee would like to thank all who contributed towards the success of the show including trophy/financial donations, expressions of support throughout the year, bringing food items, coming early to set up, staying late to take down and so much more. Whether CMBC member, exhibitor or guest it would be impossible to remember each and every person who helped out but it was all very much appreciated.
Thank you also to Gun Dog Supply and also to Pet Life (formerly the Kennel Shop) for offering gift certificates to the winners. CMBC would like to especially acknowledge the tireless efforts of Ms. Denyse Adams, PVKC show chair. To the best of her ability to do so Denyse always goes the extra mile and is always attentive to each detail and need that may arise. The weekend came to a happy conclusion when the skies cleared and the sun came out just in time for Kim Hatton to be surprised with a birthday cake and a round of “Happy Birthday to You!”
