CMBC Annual Spring Hunt Test

The Central Maine Brittany Club holds an AKC licensed hunt test for pointing breeds every year on the third weekend in April. The hunt test is held at the Kennebunk Plains Wildlife Management Area in Maine. We have added an optional water test after the Masters.

CMBC Spring and Fall Field Trials

This is an AKC walking field trial open to all AKC registered pointing breeds.  Judges may be on horseback for some stakes.  Dogs compete to earn points towards field champion titles.  Additionally, CMBC participates in the “New England Amateur Walking Hunting Dog” program where annually an award is given to the Brittany earning the most points in the Amateur Walking Hunting Dog stake.

 

The spring field trial is held on Memorial day weekend in May and the fall field trial is typically held on the weekend after Labor Day weekend in September. 

 

CMBC Designated Specialty Show & Supported Entry

The Central Maine Brittany Specialty Show is part of the 4 day Maine Chickadee Classic. The Lewiston-Auburn Kennel Club hosts the show on Thursday and Friday. The Penobscot Valley Kennel Club hosts the show on Saturday and Sunday. The Brittany classes at the PVKC show on Saturday are considered the CMBC Specialty Show. The CMBC supports the Brittany entries at the Sunday show.

CMBC Work Days

We have one or two work days a year at the Maine Bird Dog Field Trial Grounds in Fryeburg, ME. Work is directed towards maintaining courses and improving grouse habitat.

CMBC Training Day

Generally held in late summer every year at the Maine Bird Dog Field Grounds in Brownfield (Fryeburg) Maine. Training for puppy, intermediate and advanced. Skills may include introduction to birds and gunfire for puppies to the more advanced skills such as steadiness, backing and retrieving.

CMBC Board of Directors Meetings

Conference calls are scheduled quarterly. A group telephone meeting to discuss old and new business.

CMBC Annual Meeting and Potluck

Annual membership meetings are held in February. We review the year past and make plans for the year ahead. Directors and officers are elected. Awards. All members are encouraged to attend.
